The origins of the Heavenly Vision Christian Center, Inc. date to 1990. Pastor Salvador Sabino had recently come back to the Bronx to minister the Gospel in the streets and from house to house, in obedience to the calling God had made him. Under the guidance of Apostle Pablo Fernandez, of the Fountain of Salvation Christian Churches, Sabino opened a cell group in the home of the Martinez family, still located at 975 Walton Avenue, apt. 3C/S in the Bronx.
The meetings grew rapidly in attendance. The group formed mostly by youth would preach and teach the gospel of Christ from house to house almost every day of the week. On Sundays, the group would travel to Jersey City, where all would gather like a great big family to praise and worship God at Fountain of Salvation headquarters. While the praises went up to heaven the brothers and sisters received word from God that would confirm the opening of the new church. The Lord also spoke at the cell group meetings through prophecies, dreams and visions. Pastor Sal Sabino, who was the leader of the cell group, dreamt of a temple that was located one subway station stop away from his residence, then located at 2685 Grand Concourse.
The Heavenly Vision Christian Center opened its doors on December 16, 1990 at the Creston Avenue Baptist Church (which was located right near a subway station on Fordham Rd.). The brothers and sisters were filled with joy as the wonders and miracles of God were evident as they continued to win souls for Jesus Christ.
Three years later, on the fourth of December of 1993, as the rain poured down, a group of 120 brothers and sisters who were local members, accompanied by a group of representatives from the Fountain of Salvation Church of Jersey City and the Charismatic Christian church of Elizabeth, marched their way into their temple, located at 2868 Jerome Avenue singing with one voice: "God has not brought us here to go back, he brought us here to posses the land which he gave to us."
Heavenly Vision has served as a training center for hundreds of ministers. Several churches and ministries have been founded with the support of this fast growing church. Heavenly Vision now has locations in Manhattan and Long Island.
Recently, many dreams, prophecies and visions confirmed the need to refocus the original vision, which God had given us. At the closing of the past century, the Lord directed us to a radical change in our ministry, starting with the reinforcement of our cell group system. Heavenly Vision has adopted the G-12 Cell Group system, which has helped the church raise over 300 small groups to take the Gospel to the lost.
Today, Heavenly Vision Christian Center has a membership of over 1,200 members. It is a congregation filled with men and women empowered with love, faith and the Holy Spirit. We have come to an agreement of establishing a growing bilingual cell group church, whose disciples share Christ publicly and from house to house in the power of the Spirit.
